From Sunroom to Dream Kitchen: A Connecticut Home Redefined
In this comprehensive interior design project, our goal was to create a living space that seamlessly combined custom, new, and antique furniture from around the world. To achieve this, we curated a blend of classic and contemporary aesthetics while cultivating a comfortable, lived-in ambiance. Our involvement extended into every nook and cranny of the house, from electrical layouts to flooring and millwork.
The centerpiece of the project was the kitchen, designed for an Italian family who loves to entertain. We strategically created stations within the kitchen layout to accommodate seamless meal preparation and socializing. Our design includes a butler's pantry/bar to facilitate drink service while keeping the kitchen workflow uninterrupted. This transformative project expanded the small original kitchen by combining it with an old sunroom to create a spacious and functional kitchen with an adjacent dining room.
Notably, the water closet, walk-in closets, and storage cabinets were thoughtfully designed for practicality. The project also extended into social areas, with back-to-back sofas, comfortable yet stylish furniture choices, and well-defined spaces for relaxation and interaction. This transformation breathed new life into a single-family home in Connecticut, achieving a harmonious blend of classic and modern elements, timeless design, and welcoming comfort.

We transformed a tiny cramped kitchen into a spacious, functional area with an elevated aesthetic. By converting the old sunroom, we created an open kitchen with a cozy banquette and easy access to the adjacent dining room, offering both everyday convenience and formal dining options.

To blend with the lived-in, yet luxe aesthetic, we selected a vintage farm table as the kitchen’s dining area centerpiece.

We achieved a Trompe L’oeil effect by making the fridge and freezer appear as separate ice boxes while they are actually all within a single-door frame. We achieved this outcome by carefully designing outer paneling, rather than using traditional cabinetry. This playful twist adds a unique touch to the kitchen's design.

We designed a butler's pantry to facilitate drink service while keeping the kitchen workflow uninterrupted.

Our creative solutions extended to unique features like a LeMans corner cabinet system with integrated lighting for pantry convenience.

We incorporated refined, functional details into every aspect of the project, like this custom knife block drawer.

Big families mean big dinners with many courses, so we made sure this kitchen included a warming drawer.

For the bathroom on the main floor, we repurposed an antique federal furniture piece, transforming it into a unique vanity. We redesigned the drawers for towel storage, and added a complementary cabinet on the right, all accented with David Hicks wallpaper.

Moving beyond the kitchen, our living room design features back-to-back sofas with two distinct social areas. One side includes a fireplace and TV, while the other offers a picturesque view of the pond, complete with a bar and additional seating.

In the living room we focused on creating a timeless, comfortable atmosphere, with a rolled-arm sofa and plush and stylish campaign chairs in leather and velvet.

To disguise the lower floor’s HVAC system, we created a statement piece in Cane, tying together gold and black details in the room, like the railing.

Our involvement in this remodel and interior design project, extended into every nook and cranny of the house, from electrical layouts to flooring and millwork. The staircase, in particular, received meticulous attention, with a hand-forged railing and hand-drawn paneling details adorning the curved wall.

In the main bathroom, we faced a unique spatial challenge. The original footprint was not conducive to separate bathroom and closet spaces. If we simply split the area, both spaces would feel dark and cramped. Our solution? A back-to-back island vanity complete with a double-sided custom mirror and fixed lamps. The island vanity, a rarity in bathrooms where most sinks are up against a wall, optimizes space, light, and style. Integrated lighting in the vanity counter ensures convenience and safety, while the base adds a touch of custom furniture flair, delivering ample storage and practical flow

We designed this bathroom to meet both of our clients’ desires: a relaxing soaking tub and an invigorating car wash-style shower, cleverly stacked to optimize space.

In this bathroom, we aimed for timeless flooring, steering clear of passing trends. The meticulous detailing throughout complements our vision of an old-world architectural and enduring design aesthetic.

We hand-selected every piece of hardware, to ensure the timeless hand-crafted aesthetic of the project was carried through each and every detail.
