Classic California Mid-Century Ranch
After many years of designing houses for our clients, we finally found our forever home in this 1960’s modern house. The kitchen, originally small and isolated, underwent a significant transformation to become a spacious and inviting hub for entertaining. Our founder, Renee’s husband, who loves to cook, wanted a space where he could engage in conversations with guests while preparing meals, so our first step was to take down a wall to expand the kitchen; creating a more open and airy space.
The custom-made island breaks away from conventional designs where the sides typically extend to the floor to accommodate their functional elements. Instead, we incorporated the gas line into the island's leg. As a result, only the legs need to touch the floor, giving it the appearance of a well-crafted furniture piece.
The laundry room was also updated with more affordable cabinetry, but the original sink was kept to preserve a sense of history.

By running the gas line through the island's leg, we created a furniture-like appearance. We also opted for a recessed hood in the ceiling to add a seamless touch.

We selected brick detailing for a modern farmhouse look and unlacquered brass hardware as a living finish that would patina gracefully over time.

For the island, we custom-designed this door style including the reeded detail. We selected these drawer pulls for their durability and functionality while remaining traditional and classic.

With a focus on achieving a seamless and finished look, we chose to conceal and visually integrate all the appliances in this kitchen. We wanted them to look integrated rather than just a collection of stainless steel appliances. On the left-hand side in the center, we created a dedicated area for the white glass ovens with convenient 'tip ups' for tray dividers behind the cabinet doors above. To the right of the ovens, we incorporated a full-length freezer, followed by a refrigerator. This design ensures a cohesive and uninterrupted look throughout the space.

We created an elevated wet bar, complete with an under-the-counter wine fridge and ice machine refrigerator. For daytime use, we included a built in espresso machine.

Our goal for this laundry room was for it to feel as luxe as the kitchen without the spend. We achieved this by combining top end hardware and accents with cost-effective yet high-quality cabinets. This approach highlights our ability to mix and match different grades of materials while maintaining a cohesive look and durability where it matters most. For example, we sourced the lights from an antique shop and selected the floor detailing as the standout investment to bring it all together.

Adding a touch of nostalgia and sustainability, the sink holds a special significance—it's the original sink from the laundry room. By repurposing and reusing this element, we preserved a piece of the room's history while infusing it with a fresh and updated design
